About the Harris Family | Utah Sod Growers Since 1977

From a Small Utah Sod Farm to Generations of Family Businesses
The Harris family's business journey began in 1977 when Warren and Betty Harris planted their first sod crop on just 20 acres of Utah farmland. In 1978, they began harvesting and selling sod, laying the foundation for a family business built on hard work, determination, and a commitment to serving their community.
What started with a grain drill, a walk-behind sod harvester, and a dream of growing beautiful lawns has evolved into three generations of family entrepreneurship.
Over the years, the Harris family has expanded beyond turfgrass production into landscaping materials, soil products, transportation, and technology.
Today, businesses connected to that family legacy include All American Sod, Willowwood Turf, Super Soil USA, Ferrozite, and Cashfreight.com.
While each business serves a different purpose, they share a common foundation: hard work, innovation, family values, and a commitment to building something that lasts.

For nearly five decades, the Harris family has been growing more than just grass. We've been growing beautiful landscapes, supporting Utah communities, developing innovative soil products, and finding smarter ways to move American businesses forward.
Our Story: From 20 Acres to a Multi-Generation Legacy
Our story began in 1977 when Warren and Betty Harris planted their first sod crop on just 20 acres of Utah farmland.
With a grain drill, a single walk-behind sod harvester, and a dream of bringing beautiful "instant lawns" to Utah families, they began harvesting and selling sod in 1978.
What started as a small family operation has grown into a third-generation turfgrass business through Willowwood Turf and All American Sod.
Over the decades, our family has grown and supplied more than 100 million square feet of natural sod, helping create beautiful lawns, parks, schools, commercial landscapes, and community spaces.
Today, our family's entrepreneurial spirit extends beyond turfgrass into landscaping materials, soil development, and freight transportation technology.
Our Family of Businesses
All American Sod & Willowwood Turf
Our roots remain in Utah sod farming. We grow American Bluegrass™ Kentucky Bluegrass and American Oasis™ Turf-Type Tall Fescue, providing natural turfgrass for homeowners, landscapers, contractors, and commercial projects.
Our landscape materials business provides topsoil, fine wood compost, decorative rock, gravel, road base, mulch, firewood, and other landscaping products.
Developed around naturally iron-rich silt loam from Sevier County, Ferrozite is used in our soil products to support soil improvement and healthy plant growth.
Our family's entrepreneurial journey also led to freight technology. Cashfreight.com is designed to connect shippers and carriers directly, simplify freight negotiations, improve communication, and help businesses manage transportation more efficiently.
Ask The Lawn Doctor
Education. Experience. Healthier Utah Lawns.
With nearly five decades of hands-on sod farming experience, the Harris family understands that a beautiful lawn starts with knowledge.
We created AskTheLawnDoctor.com to help homeowners, landscapers, and lawn care enthusiasts better understand natural turfgrass, soil health, proper irrigation, sod installation, and responsible lawn maintenance.
Through educational articles, practical lawn care advice, and information about the environmental benefits of living grass, we share what we've learned from generations of growing turfgrass in Utah.
Our mission is to help people grow healthier lawns, use water more efficiently, and understand the important role natural vegetation plays in cooling landscapes, protecting soil, and supporting the water cycle.
Growing Grass Is Our Business. Sharing Knowledge Is Our Passion.
The Ferrozite Difference
One of the unique resources associated with our farming operation is the naturally iron-rich silt loam found in Sevier County, Utah.
Iron is an essential plant nutrient involved in chlorophyll formation and healthy green growth. Soil structure, organic matter, nutrient availability, and proper irrigation also play important roles in developing healthy landscapes.
Through Ferrozite and Super Soil USA, we've worked to turn our knowledge of Utah soils into practical landscaping products.
Our goal is simple: help customers build healthier soil as the foundation for healthier landscapes.
Decorative Landscape Rocks — Strawberry Cream™
